In July 2008, I moved out to Valon to get away from the hectic life I led in London as a product designer. I found a lovely house in this picturesque village with three good-sized barns and 50 acres of natural unspoilt forest.
After converting one of my barns into a workshop and exhibition space, I started working on renovating the gites. Derelict and originally constructed in the year 1900 to house fruits and vegetables, it took me 9 months to completely renovate the gîte now named Saba (named after my golden retriever). I welcomed my first guests in the summer of 2009. I finished renovations on the second gîte, the main house and now named Rita (named after the golden retriever who lives opposite), in the spring of 2014.
New for 2017 is a lovely barn conversion of 100m2, ideal for couples. It offers open plan living with great views of the valley.
With al the work complete I now spend some of the winter month managing a luxury 5 star chalet in Val d'isere.
All gîtes have been renovated using environmentally-friendly techniques and locally-sourced materials.
